Citrus Show
We all know lemons, oranges and lines from trips to
the grocery store. Many of us might be able to go so far as to mention
Meyer Lemon, Naval Oranges and Mexican Limes. But did you know there
are many, many more varieties grown locally. If you consider yourself a
foodie or simply like to learn new things, join us on Saturday, January
29th. The San Dimas Historical Society will host a Citrus
Display and Lecture at the Walker House, 121 North San Dimas Avenue in
San Dimas. The display will open at 2:00 p.m. and go until 5:00 p.m.
Over 35 varieties of fresh picked citrus fruits will be included in this
display.
Citrus expert, Tom Spellman, will describe each
type of fruit. Tom has been in the nursery business for over 35 years
and has worked at many area nurseries. He is currently with Dave Wilson
Nursery of Hickman, California. Tom has appeared on television and
given numerous radio interviews. He is also an accomplished writer and
has provided articles for Sunset, Westways, the Los Angeles Times and
the Orange County Register. Ton lectures on fruit growing throughout
the western United States.
Put the date and time on your calendar now. Come
learn where these different fruits are available and their best uses.
You won’t want to miss this one. One more addition to your calendar,
the Antiques from your Home show is scheduled for February 10th,
2011 from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. More details next month or check the
